Glenn A. Garber is a man of a stellar education, graduating from Syracuse University with a bachelors in science, and obtaining his law degree from the prestigious Cardozo school of law in 1989. Mr. Garber is the founder of the EXI (The Exoneration Initiative), a pioneering & not-for-profit organization that investigates and litigates non-DNA innocence cases on behalf of the wrongfully convicted. He is a criminal defense and civil rights lawyer who has dedicated his career to fighting for the disenfranchised and the wrongfully convicted.

The program’s assistant director, Rebecca Freedman, joined EXI shortly after its creation, and has been very instrumental in its success.  Rebecca is a savvy, spirited, and talented litigator, and one of the country’s leading criminal defense/non-DNA innocence lawyers. Rebecca is an absolute warrioress in the Law world, conducting trials, post-conviction hearings, arguing appeals, and is EXI’s resident expert on eyewitness identification and false confessions.

The Exoneration Initiative is a Golden company, leading the way to a better system of law in America. So for the accomplishments of the Exoneration Initiative organization, please welcome Glenn Gaber and Rebecca Freedman as they receive the 2017 IED Lifetime Humanitarian Award.
